Tanned skin and a recent holiday often require distance from the session. Safety comes before speed.

Fitzpatrick scale I–VI

The scale describes how skin reacts to sun. Types I–II burn easily, types V–VI hardly. Together with hair colour and thickness we set parameters and wavelength.

Why Nd:YAG for darker skin

Shorter wavelengths are absorbed more by melanin in the skin surface. Nd:YAG sits at 1064 nm and can lower the risk of pigment shifts when applied correctly – a residual risk remains.

Risks and how we reduce them

Possible pigment changes, redness or rare burn signs. Countermeasures: consultation, test shot, adjusted fluence, postponing with a fresh tan.

Tanning and holidays

Plan sessions with a buffer from intensive sun or solarium. After the session use high sun protection on treated areas – see the preparation & aftercare guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Fitzpatrick scale?

It describes how skin reacts to sun – from type I (very fair) to VI (very dark). From that and your hair type we choose laser parameters and wavelength.

Why often Nd:YAG for skin types IV–VI?

Nd:YAG (1064 nm) is absorbed less by melanin in the skin surface than shorter wavelengths and can lower the risk of pigment changes on darker skin – when correctly set.

What risks exist for darker skin?

Possible temporary or, rarely, longer-lasting pigment changes. We lower risk through consultation, test shot and adjusted parameters – a residual risk remains.

May I come to a session with a tan?

Fresh tanning raises risk. Plan sessions with distance from intensive sun or solarium – we prefer to postpone rather than treat unsafely.

Does laser work on dark hair on dark skin?

Dark hair contains melanin and is generally a good laser target. What matters is safely separating skin and hair pigment via wavelength and fluence.

Do I need more sessions than with fair skin?

Session count depends mainly on the hair cycle and zone, not on skin tone alone. You receive your plan after the analysis.

Do you do a test shot?

Yes, when useful – especially for darker skin or an unclear reaction history.

Where can I see prices?

All zone prices are on the prices page. Technology choice does not automatically change the listed zone price.
